Bump what you heard. Black girls can wear blue eyeshadow...the bluer, the better. Last week I got a Facebook friend request from Iman Cosmetics and discovered this video on their profile. Anytime I see a professional (or really good) makeup demo for dark brown girls, I'm all eyes and ears. I am always on the lookout for what other brown girls are using and this video is full of beautiful products and tips on makeup application. I got the Iman sable blush featured in the video from Target about 2 years ago and use it as contour eyeshadow ALL the time just as the artist does in the video. It's long, but every minute is worth watching. Check it.
And while we're here, shout out to Erin, of ScandalousBeautyOnline.com, who reminds us in the following video to bump what you heard, black girls can wear pink! I LOVE LOVE LOVE her videos! She has over 20k subscribers to her Youtube page. Watch this video and you'll see why.
Confession: I have worn blue eyeshadow only once, and got compliments on it, but didn't rock it. I'm convinced I can wear it again, but with confidence after watching Iman's video.
I must also confess that most of my eyeshadows, lip colors and blushes are either brown, gold, bronze or deep purple. Inspired by Erin, I bought a pink Nars blush, but decided it was too sparkly for me. I prefer more glimmer than glitter. I do wear pink more often now, especially since I started doing reviews for Clinique--they have sent me many-many pink things.
Here are my favorite things to rock when I'm feeling pink...or blue..but NOT together.
Items from right to left: L'Oreal Hip High Intensity Bright Duo in Roaring, Clinique Fresh Bloom Allover Colour in peony, Victoria's Secret Silky Eyeshadow in Bunny, and Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Lilac. The other lip gloss above didn't make it into my photo (didn't feel like going out of the room to get it from my bag), but it's L'Oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Lip Conditioner in Soft Mauve. I wear it often.
Have you braved outside of brown town to try other colors on you lips, lids and cheeks?

Great post. Thanks....I will be using tips from that video like moistening the sponge before applying eyeshadow. I really liked the lip color on the model, too.
