Welcome to my place! Come on in and stay a while.
My name is Raquel. I moved to Texas after graduating from college in Tennessee.
I started HomegirlBlog in 2005 a few months after changing jobs and starting a new chapter in my life. I left a full-time job for a part-time one in an awesome advertising agency--best decision I ever made other than saying "yes" to the first sincere marriage proposal I received. After a few months of working there, I started this blog to connect with my family and college friends who are all scattered about the country. It's been fun showing my face to the world here. I've made some cool blog-buddies over the past few years and have gotten some really great opportunities. I've met some wonderful authors as a result of some of my book reviews and blogged for Honey Magazine (back when they had city blogs...I was the Austin Honeybee). I've dealt with some sticky job situations and some sucky life situations and blogged about it all here. I got pregnant, miscarried and got pregnant again, then gave birth and blogged about that too. My blog is my favorite hobby. I can't imagine not doing it.
I'm a thirty-something, Austin suburban, stay-at-home mom. I write about my life. I write about everything from books to films to lip gloss and random things to my kid to that time I kicked my doctor in the head and grabbed his mmmhm by mistake. I like to keep my content light, but occasionally, I'll comment on social and political wackness.
So there you have it. That's all "About Me".
Thanks for stopping by. See you around here. :)
